“The Lone Earth”

Agricultural University of Georgia initiated foundation of an ecology club “The Lone Earth” in frame of Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation funded project “Science Begins from School – Research with Participation of Schoolchildren” 2017 competition on a base of N64 Tbilisi State School and with active support of St. Ilia the Right Tbilisi school of Patriarchate of Georgia and Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN).

On the first meeting of the club, schoolchildren have attended lecture of PhD student Ilia Kunchulia from Agricultural University of Georgia. He presented “Soil as Pride of the Nation” and talked about soil as special phenomena of the nature, peculiarities of its formation and distribution in the country, problems of soil degradation and protection.

Likewise on the first meeting of the club, representative from CENN Vano Gioshvili have presented school competition Niko Ketskhoveli competition “Discover Georgia”. The competition aims to facilitate environmental protection activities, including planting trees and shrubs, photo competitions, big scale surveys in schools, creating new tourist paths, etc.

Meetings of the club will be held every 2 weeks. The next meeting will be about the protected areas of Georgia.

    Of course. The next lecture will be held on Friday, 3rd of November. At Tbilisi N64 state school. Vaja Pshavela 6a at 13:30 PM.
